عالم الطيور واسع جداً وهو من جوانب الدهشة في الحياة البرية، ذلك ما يجعل عالم الطيور مجال تصوير دسم وهذا ما تعكسه مسابقات التصوير المختصة في عالم الطيور مع لقطات غير متوقعة ومتجددة كل عام.
من تلك المسابقات مسابقة مصور العام للطيور ‘Bird Photographer of the Year‘ التي نشرت الصور الفائزة في طبعة 2019 الطبعة الرابعة من المسابقة، حيث شارك مصورين من 63 دولة مع 13500 صورة لتنافس على الفوز بالجائزة الكبرى وفي ست فئات مختلفة.
هذا العام كانت الجائزة الكبرى من نصيب المصورة البريطانية Caron Steele والتي حصلت عليها عن صورة صحفية لصحيفة Dalmatian Pelican، تلك الصورة ملتقطة في بحيرة كركيني في اليونان التي تجمدت لأول مرة منذ 16 عام وهي تصور بجعة تحاول التنقل على السطح الجليدي الزلق لأول مرة، هذه الصورة أيضا حصدت جائزة أفضل بورتريه في الفئة الذهبية.
